What are Anti-Static Poly Bags?
Anti-static poly bags are made from polyethylene that protect sensitive electronics from exposure to a number of damages such as static electricity, dust and moisture.
The bags are dissipative (pink) or conductive (black).
What are the two types of anti-static poly bags?
1.) Dissipative: These bags have a static dissipative coating on the plastic that ensures the static can travel around the bag and dissipate before it has a chance to damage the contents. These bags are not resistant to charges from outside the bag however.
2.) Conductive: They work the same as dissipative bags, but have an added layer of conductive metal (usually aluminium) and another layer of plastic to provide extra support in shielding the contents within from external charges. These bags are better suited for extremely sensitive contents or in environments where sparks would be a likely hazard. In addition, while they have a longer overall shelf life than dissipative bags, they're not quite as resistant to punctures.
